PSFK Desktop Debrief
PSFK presents the
Desktop Debrief

The Desktop Debrief is out now: the new report from PSFK Labs features insights to how office layout, personal style and consideration of desk space drive effectiveness and creativity in modern work settings. Based on original research with our readers, this 15-page report provides creative professionals with context to how desk objects impact well-being, as well as actionable takeaways to consider in office design.

With our ability to do work from virtually anywhere - on mobile, in the air, at home - and with a greater part of the work force operating at a freelance capacity, the traditional notion of the office has evolved to reflect these trends. PSFK Labs researchers have utilized the findings from a qualitative survey with the PSFK.com global readership to illustrate how workspace planners can best leverage the changes towards more flexible, portable workdays and open office environments.

In the Desktop Debrief, readers will find colorful examples of desktops aggregated from graphic designers, agencies, co-working spaces and the PSFK team for visual inspiration. Alongside these images, PSFK Labs highlights 12 desk-layout trends that inspire workers' happiness and work quality. Our research presents how headphones are not only listening tools, but also an external signal of concentrated work; and how quirky figurines are used to indicate character and foster new relationships.

We also look at the importance of promoting health as a workplace priority, and the tools and mechanisms to deploy well-being initiatives through simple acts. Other key take-aways include ways to decorate an office space that fosters less stress, increased productivity and better collaboration.

Since the desk space is directly connected to work culture, relationships and general well-being, employers and workspace planners should not underestimate its value in office architecture.

The 15-page digital download of The Desktop Debrief is available today on PSFK.com for just $100.
